The Hist aims to foster discourse and debate while ensuring a respectful, accessible, inclusive, and diverse environment. We welcome several students from different backgrounds each year, whose diversity of experiences and opinions are essential to that discourse. Thus, we aim to ensure that all our members can participate in our events. The Equity & Inclusion Officer, Nina Crofts, with the help of our other officers, promotes inclusion and accessibility in all of the Hist’s endeavours. Our Equity & Inclusion Officer ensures adherence to the Hist Equity & Inclusion Policy, which outlines the minimum standard of behaviour expected at our events. This allows us to facilitate discussion without compromising inclusivity.
If you believe the Equity & Inclusion Policy has been breached at an event, you can report this to the Equity Officer, who will investigate the matter. Even if you are unsure, or would simply like a chat, you are more than welcome to reach out to the Equity & Inclusion Officer. No matter is too great or too small.
The Equity & Inclusion Officer is the point of contact for all accessibility issues. If an event is inaccessible to you, please reach out to the Equity & Inclusion Officer to discuss what actions the Hist can take (e.g. changing the venue).
